TransKITZalp - Austria's longest piste tour
Winter > Skiing > TransKITZalp - Austria's longest piste tour
Austria's longest piste tour cuts straight across the Kitzbüheler Alpen. Even good skiers will take two days to complete the round trip...
The Transkitzalp is a route to traverse (without a guide) the two ski areas of ithe SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental and Kitzbühel (see the description). It can be completed in one diection in one day, using the ski bus for the return journey, or as a weekend tour, overnighting at Pass Thurn.
The single day TransKITZalp crossing starts in Itter or Soll and finishes at Pass Thurn.
The
TransKITZalp is a 1 or 2-day individual ski route through the
Wilder Kaiser-Brixental ski world and
Kitzbühel ski resorts. The ski adventure between Itter in the lowlands of Tyrol and Mittersill in the Pinzgau region of Salzburg takes skiers through 2 states and 7 communities. Instead of just skiing down the same slope several times a day, this tour takes skiers over 12,000 m of altitude and across 50 km of pistes. Anyone wishing to complete the
TransKITZalp in a day will need to take the ski bus for the return journey. For an unforgettable weekend of skiing, skiers can spend the night at the Thurn pass and tackle the no less spectacular return trip the next day, well rested. The best ski pass for the adventure is the
Kitzbüheler Alpen AllStarCard.
This enables guests to ‘experience’ more: namely over 1,000 km of pistes in 10 ski resorts in the ski association area. The ski pass is valid across the ski Mecca of Kitzbühel, in the amazingly extensive ski world of Wilder Kaiser-Brixental, at the Saalbach-Hinterglemm-Leogang ski circus, in Zell am See, at the Kitzsteinhorn glacier ski resort, at the St. Johann in Tirol/ Oberndorf ski resort, in Waidring and Fieberbrunn, the Wildschönau and the Alpbachtal. The 356 cable cars and lifts provide a comfortable ascent while the 271 ski huts are a comfortable place to stop-off.
The extra-long season at the ski association starts beginning of November with the ‘white start’ in the Kitzsteinhorn glacier ski resort and ends there on 1 May. The Kitzbüheler Alpen AllStarCard costs 126 euros for 3 days (children 63 euros) and 224 euros for 6 days (children 112 euros).
