„Streif“ is known as
THE classic
downhill race track in the Ski World Cup. Thousands of spectators flock to watch the annual
Int. Hahnenkamm Races and enjoys the special atmosphere in Kitzbühel.
The Hahnenkamm downhill on the Streif
The racers throw themselves down this hair-raising downhill race track with courage and total self-confidence, with the key sections of track, Startschuss, Mausefalle and Steilhang making up the first third of the course. The race then continues down the variable midle section of the course (Brückenschuss, Gschöss, Alte Schneise, Seidlalm, Lärchenschuss, Oberhausberg), where it rellay pays off to let the skis glide freely. The big finale starts at Hausbergkante, where after the jump over the Hausbergkante, the wild ride continues along Querfahrt. At the Zielschuss, the finish straight, the racers reached maximum speeds of up to 120 km/h, before they make the last jump and cross the finish line at Rasmusleiten.
Spectators and television viewers around the World wait with baited breath until each and every courageous racers has safely reached the end.
Any good skier can ski the Steif!
Essentially anyone can ski the Streif in winter. The start is the top station of the Hahnenkamm-Bahn. The most difficult sections of the descent such as Mausefalle, Steilhang, Hausbergkante, Traverse and Zielschuss are marked as "extreme ski routes" and not prepared. These are only suitable for very, very good skiers.
The Mini Streif - wonderful fun for the kids
A new travelator (magic carpet) was set up at the foot of the world famous Hahnenkammabfahrt . This was the start of a magical idea: the Skischule Rote Teufel and the Hausherrn Klaus Reisch, together with the Bergbahn Kitzbühel created a obstacle course for the kids: the MINISTREIF was born geboren – a very special type of skiing fun...

The Seidlalm II reservoir (capacity - 115.000 m3) will in future provide the water for the snow making machines on the Hahnenkamm – Ehrenbachhöhe.
