Seven tips for popping in to the mountain huts
The choice of mountain huts is not few in the Kitzbüheler Alpen, so here are seven tips to help you make that choice a lttle easier.
Good atmosphere, hospitality and top-quality food are not the only things to take into consideration. Enjoy the unique personalities, the laughs and jokes of the Tyrolean landlords and landladies.
The „Kitzbüheler Alpen Ski Hut-Winter Championship" have been held twice, and both times the same winner. The Harschbichlalm, at 1.700 m above sea level it is the highest ski hut in St. Johanns, offers amazing views over the Wilden Kaiser and the Kitzbüheler Horn.
The hospitality for which it is so renowned is what has given the Harschbichlhütte its reputation as the best ski hut in the Kitzbüheler Alpen.

The
Bärenbadalm opened in 2007 in the
Kitzbühel ski area is a perfect embodiment of the often compied 'modern Tyrolean style'. Through an interesting take on the culture and tradition of the mountain huts, and cuisine all centred around local produce, the Bärenbadkogel is a good recommendation for authentic hospitality.
On the menu you will find game from the local huntsmen, and steaks from their own Angus beef herd. The views of the Großglockner and Großvenediger from the lounge area are unique.
The nearby ski slopes, Bärenbadkogel I and II, are some of the most interesting in the whole area.

Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See. The new 'in' place at the bottom of the Areit I lift, is the ski hut
Cabrio. There is place for up to 120 people inside the sylish hut, and a further 60 people have place on the terrace to eat, sunbathe and relax.

The show programme, the music and the rustic hut - exactly what combination make the great atmosphere of the Goaßstall is not sure - whatever it is, last year the bar was voted the favourite Après Ski Bar from 50 bars in the Ski Circus.
